I bought a crow cam a couple of years back and had no issues with it.

It was actually made during the covid lock down period too

Yeah but do Crow make any of their own cams? I thought they were made by an actual cam manufacturer?

Crow sure do make their own cams....I believe the quality has gone downhill over the past 5 years or so, but they still make them

Hi thanks to everyone that helped, I stopped getting notification emails for some reason? Anyway the seller sent me another set that seemed decent so I went with those.

Do they make their own cam blanks or just grind cams to their specifications?

If it's any consolation, my last crow cam had a set of lifters with those little pits in them.

And I just checked my new ones I have on the shelf for a future build, they are the same. However I also have a Comp Cam + lifters on the shelf for another build for a mate and those are perfect.....must be a crow thing.

My current crow 12 months on still going strong......must just be the way the crow lifters are these days.

Unfortunately hearing a lot of horror stories about cams/lifters lately. :(

Last I heard about 12 months ago, blanks......Not sure about to own specifications....
I've just had a crow cam delivered and can confirm they still use blanks as my cam had a 1.5 month delay as they were waiting on fresh cam cores to come from the US for production.

From their website:
Every Crow Cam is ground using only the highest quality cast iron or steel cam billets which are sourced from the leading suppliers in USA & Europe. Prior to grinding, Crow Cams ensures every billet is straightened to correct any distortion that normally occurs in the heat treatment process.

In terms of Cam quality Crow is right up there compared to Crane imo, the lifters though seem to be pretty hit and miss.

My last Crane cam had some mild pitting on the lobes and the overall finish/quality of the cam just looked cheap and nasty compared to Crane's of old....it still broke in and ran fine but I'd question it's long term reliability.

Apparently most of Cranes stuff comes out of China now.
