Hi
I'm a new Commodore owner. My uncle left me his car. Its an auto Acclaim and since I transferred the rego last Sat I've been driving it. It drives pretty good but what I really like is the visibility when changing lanes and the brakes.

I have to sell because I can't afford 2 cars. I'm not a car like spannerhead but there's 3 things I can see wrong
Km counter thing doesn't work
The power steering makes a groaning noise at low speed
Some scratches on the front bumper.

So just wondering it says it has 70K but can't be 100% sure except my uncle was 87 and always garaged it and didn't drive very far.
What roughly would be a fair price to sell it for with these 3 problems ?
Gumtree or Facebook market ?

Cheers in advance

I'd say it's only worth about $2-5k tbh, but do some research on how much these are going for...

Question, is it a VS or a VT?

VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
Power steering is an easy fix.
Scratches would be expected.
Broken speedo/odometer, also easy fix.

I’d guess it’s a VS with the odometer not working. Used to be able to get a little plastic gear to replace the broken one in the cluster.

Great cars. Good times.

Prices are all over the place. Plenty of people trying to sell V6’s for more than an SS! They’re taking the piss at $23000.

I’m suggesting a fair price around $5000- $8000.

Wagons and utes and SS are worth a fair bit more.

Yes Iooked on cr sales and the prices seem all over.
Max AAMI insurance is $3300 so not sure if that's market value or their value.
I might try $5500 on gumtree and see if anybody rresponds.

Insurers are still trying their luck with pre vehicle shortage depreciation estimates.

Shannon’s are better to insure it with.

Used cars are increasing in value, not decreasing.
Eg:
Mums little Suzuki Alto is worth what she bought it for new 11years ago. Zero depreciation. Cheap to run. Easy to fix. Low kms.

Commodores (and all used cars) are a huge pain to sell privately, loads of people wanting a brand new car for free

Beware of the tyre kickers they've got absolutely no intention of buying it. After taking it for a "blat"
they offer you a ridiculous counter offer or its thanks but l've got other cars to look at.
I was in Canberra, moving over the Ditch and trying to sell a V12 XJS.
The 2 biggest flogs to have a look at it were from the local Jag club.
The father and son duo then spent the next hour rubbishing it.
After asking me if it was ok to rev
it out a bit, he took it to well over 7000rpm before l put a stop to it.
I've sold a few cars, but these two prx would have to be two of the
biggest time wasters god put breath into.

Thats selling cars privately old cars attract low ballers and wankers . When the low baller makes a really low offer counter offer with get the f*ck off my property now, the last turn out I said that to, stopped his bs paid what I was asking on the spot. If they haggle on price on the phone and you tell them the lowest you'll go on the phone thats it no more haggling tell them that on the phone if they try haggle after you have said that, get the f*ck off my property. If they start bullshiting walk away don't listen to bs story.
