Hi guys, I have a 06 VE V6 Calais that has had minor fresh water flood damage, (water to the top of the trans hump), this caused shorting to the electrical system.
Once cleaned and dried out car would crank and fire on start ya bastard, but fuel pump had no signal. Have since replaced everything below flood line and checked all systems, cleared codes and now car will not crank, no power to fuel pump or crank regs, tested anti theft and is working as is doors locks, everything.
Have reset system multiple times but no codes from ECM BCM etc.
So I’m leaning towards the BCM being fried due to the amount of shorting.
Head unit works no problem.
Only errors on dash are airbag and once in awhile antilock.
Thanks guys and sorry for the long post!

I purchased it post flood, but apparently was running and drove fine, had all its services up until the Euroa floods, just uninsured!

Have the manual and have tested the circuits/voltages, just trying to confirm that it’s not possibly something else other than my suspicions before I bite the bullet and get a new/reco bcm.

so do you have output to fuel pump relay at ecu
do you have start/security enable at bcm
do you have crank relay output at ecu
if you have tested antitheft signal from bcm then bcm is not likely causing your problems
flood cars require a lot of patience and knowledge to diagnose

Hi
I re-spent the day retesting everything.
fitted a full charged battery.
turned the ignition on, still no sound from the fuel pump and no crank.
no anti-theft lights or warnings on displays and was able to cycle the anti-theft system.

First tested power at the main fuse box under the bonnet.
full power to all fuses and relays other than R12 crank relay, power from ECM is 0.12v (seems low). Bridged relay and engine cranked.

Secondly tested Fuel pump relay R12 in passenger comp fuse panel, no power at all from ECM, bridged relay and could hear fuel pump run.

Thirdly tested ECM inputs and out puts.
All input pins 3/5/6/54 voltages are there and correct, earth is good.
ECM X2 plug pin 10 fuel pump relay showed no power output.
Trans neutral switch operational, pin 17.
pins 42 and 55 high speed GMLAN bus are showing the correct 2.4v/2.5v
Pin 56 battery + voltage 12.6v
pin 57 Starter relay coil, showing 0.12v (seems low)
Pin 58 Main relay control, showing 0.75V (again seems low)

Finally the BCM
Tested all inputs and outputs and all were good, all coms had correct voltages and so did the ignition and run/crank voltages.

So I think i may be up for a new ECM, not the BCM as I initially thought.

So if i need a replacement ECM are all V6 ECMs the same?

No they are not all the same.
You will need to read the number & code of yours and get a matching one and link it to the car
OR
If you know someone with the software you just need to match the ECU number and #serv number and clone yours and then no linking required just plug in and go.

I’d be looking at the electrics of the air bag plugs/connectors under the seats,
And the wiring under the dash & console area, as these connectors don’t have silicone seals.
They may need drying out, and/or cleaning
I was reading somewhere if a vehicle had a airbag fault, it would lock out the ignition system,
I stand corrected if this is wrong,

But the service manual will assist with locating the connectors.

If you replace the BCM, this need to be linked to your ECU.

I have a VE S2 SV6 ECU (from a LFX) for sale if you require one, keeping in mind it will need to be linked to your BCM.
How is a E39 or E39A ECU from a S2 VE with a LFX engine going to work in a 2006 VE ?!?
