Hi all I am just wondering if you could give me some help on this
My commodore has pretty bad brake dust on the wheels and it is hard to come off, I am wondering what is a good method in removing the brake dust and cleaning it to make my wheels look brand new again

Dont use an acid type of cleaner, it will stuff the surface/paint.

If they are really dusted up, and its caked on,
Remove them, remove the centre caps, and clean them with degreaser on the back with a parts cleaning brush and the scotch brite, thanks @Fu Manchu
On the front, use degreaser and a parts cleaning brush, and an old "worn out" scourer between the spokes, works wonders,
When that is done, it will be easy to keep them clean in the future.

Once you get them clean use some brake dust repellent. They will still get somewhat dusty but it will wash off with a noodle mit and a bucket with car wash and water.

Definitely take them off for the first time at least, you won’t get close with them on the car still.

You could solve most of the probem once you have cleaned them by going to ceramic brake pads.

Regular hits with some truck wash and a pressure washer, plus elbow grease where required, I also use a sealer or a wax product as it makes cleaning alot easier

I also have some microfibre brushes I use, my $10 go to is >>>>>

The trick is to clean them regularly

This is the No.1 reason I got Simmons RF1's, they are so easy to clean

In saying this, some brake pads do dump a heap of dust, you can get good performing pads that don't cover your rims in dust though

I pressure clean first. Then wash with a soft brush and sugar soap. Rinse off wheelie well. Then I apply iron remover. I seem to be using Chemical Guys at the moment but was using Maguiars before that for years. AutoGlym even longer ago. The brake dust will go purple. Let it sit. Then work in with a small soft brush. Pressure clean it off. Then wash with your regular car wash and hopefully it’s a good one like some of the brands I’ve mentioned.

As above, scrub them. I haven't found any wheel cleaners that actually work without elbow grease, so I stick to detergent and hot water. Then use a quality nano sealant, from your Purewax type all the way up to your liquid armour type and they become ridiculously easy to clean. The quality of sealant dictates how long that 'ridiculously easy to clean' lasts for
