Hi all, I have a S2 VT Berlina, the dash doesn't beep anymore when you press mode or up/down buttons, and its silent when low fuel warning comes on (should beep then too)
Anyone know how to fix this? Guessing a little speaker in the cluster possibly?

I think you might be right. Hopefully a non functioning cluster pops up on eBay for you. Sometimes cheap when they pop up. Maybe grab a used cluster first and see if you could handle the soldering job yourself before pulling yours out. If you aren’t confident take the two clusters to someone you know to change the speaker

Is the tone/beep unit in the cluster ?,
I thought there was a small oval like speaker/grill section on the dash cover/trim that it sat behind, if so it shouldn’t be too hard to replace.

I'm pretty sure that opening is for the A/C temperature sensor.

Ahh, that is what's its for,
Often wondered at the time, being we had a few cars with that little opening.

I've never seen a speaker in the cluster. I've had a few clusters pulled apart, down to the board.

There is a tweater at each end of the dash.

Possibly the mode switch (button) is cactus?

You haven't recently changed clusters? If so, could be cluster programming?

Yeah it seems there isnt one in the cluster, so I have no idea where the beeps come from, if I had a spare mode switch I would pull it apart and check but I dont unfortunately.

Cluster is still the same one from factory, nothing has been touched, just one day it stopped making the beeps

Come to think of it, I don’t remember seeing a speaker either but that’s where it is.
You can test the speaker with engineering mode on VY/VZ, Tech2 or cluster software. It’s definitely not inside the mode switch as I’ve pulled many apart.

I was meaning a broken mode switch, which would break the cuircut?

I was referring to the message under yours. But it’s not the same circuit. The mode switch is a 5v circuit and the cluster reads the different voltages from the individual switches pressed. Same setup as the steering wheel controls, known as a resistor ladder
