The only real viable options I see are that you rebuild the 5 speed (even though it's not broken) or try make the 6L50e work with some kind of transmission controller from the States. Will probably need a new tailshaft and some kind of ECU work depending on how much the gearbox interacts with the ECU afterward.
Hmm alright thinking of upgrading the 5 speed just want it to be able to handle more torque that's all really

It looks like the bellhousing is integrated with the pump on the 5L50e and you can unbolt it. You might have an in there, but I suspect you may need to work out a fair bit of wiring possibly.

Well the only 5L50e trans were in Cadillacs I wouldn't know if the wiring from those would ve compatible would a trans specialist be handy for this kind of swap if I provide?

For the BMW X5 I mean. Sure, a trans specialist would help but then it comes back to the total cost, as along with the pump you'll likely be paying them $100 an hour to essentially develop this swap for you as it's not straight forward at this point, which is even if they want that kind of work. Outside of the beamers, are you really willing to spend the cash to bring one in from the States? Do you even have a budget for something like this?

If you're that damn attached to this car, rebuilding your existing box (or a spare blown one) would likely be the fastest, and by far the easiest thing to do. Next is 6L50e with a controller like Lex did - https://forums.justcommodores.com.a...eed-auto-exe-wagon.256463/page-7#post-3030005
