308 with 304 heads..

Hi guys and gals...ive put together a 308 fully rebuilt with rebuilt 304 heads...not sure if ive used the correct cam or i have timing issues...are the cams the same between 308 and 304 and do i use se timing or chev firing order

Different cams between 308 and 304 because the 304 heads have a different port arrangement. Firing order is the same.

Indeed you do.
308 was exh/int/int/exh/exh/int/int/exh where as the 304 was exh/int/exh/int/exh/int/exh/int
So without a cam swap you will be trying to breathe in the exhaust and out the intake on half your cylinders.

or later 304 EFI with even spaced zorst ports?

Ok guys i have put the 304 efi cam in but still having issues...its the vr heads ...motor doesnt seem to want to eat the fuel...like it wont rev ...

It's going to need a tune to suit the cam.

Have you set the base timing on the dizzy?

Ok how do i tune it...base timing is what...setting dizzy to number 1...i havnt had a timing lihjt to it
