    Mace M80 LSD diff

I went with the Eaton. I just couldn’t find enough feedback on the Mace

    Mace M80 LSD diff

So I pulled the trigger on the Truetrac. Really happy with the work done, and even some of the driveline clunks that I had with the factory centre are gone!

    Mace M80 LSD diff

Right I’m set on just replacing my center, now back to the original question of the Mace vs Trutrac. The Mace is half the price here but I am happy to pay for the better product.

Thanks that’s reassuring, I just don’t want to compromise on safety!

    Mace M80 LSD diff

Ok, I am leaning towards a truetrac or similar based on various recommendations and my research. In terms of functionality, are there any downsides compared with the factory cone lsd? As above I am weary of being caught out with it suddenly opening up if hitting a zero-traction surface

    Mace M80 LSD diff

There’s not a lot of love for the factory diff that’s for sure. One of my concerns with the Truetrac and similar style is getting caught out from the near zero-traction condition where there is no torque transfer. Does a properly functioning factory unit behave the same?

    Mace M80 LSD diff

Yes, would be great to get some feedback based on real world experience. Otherwise I will consider just an overhaul on the factory lsd, as you pay through the roof here for Harrop’s!

    Mace M80 LSD diff

Hi guys, I’m looking to overhaul my factory VTII SS diff before getting a mild tune, as although there is no significant issues now, I want to ensure longevity and performance post 180k kms! Has anyone had experience with the Mace Engineering Torque-Lock center? I am wondering how these...

    Diff ratio change - recalibration

Is this the ppk setting? Once it is corrected the car will be safe to drive, at least to the tuner who I would ask to calibrate on the dyno?

    Diff ratio change - recalibration

Hi all, I have a factory VTII SS auto. I’m about to get a rebuild on the lsd and change out the diff gears to new 3.46 from the old 3.07. Following that I am getting an ECU tune and dyno. I understand some parameters will be out upon changing the gear ratio. The tuner is a couple of hundred...

Factory VT SS wheel colour match

Yes the VS Statesman 50th Anniversary wheels you reference are the same. Hi Ho Silver seems to be used for on the VP GTS wheels. Pics generally look close that’s for sure! You don’t happen to have that list handy do you?

Factory VT SS wheel colour match

Hi guys, I know there are some old threads around this topic but they seemed inconclusive. My VT SS wheels have minor rash and I am wanting to restore them so they look like they did the day they left the factory. A refinish will be required but it seems there is no known paint code. A...

    VY R8 wheels on VT

Are there any VT's out there with VY R8 wheels? Have always liked the maloo shadow chrome variation however they don't come up often so am wondering if the standard silver set would suit a black VT.

VX commodore wheels and rims help

I just used 8 inch width as per most Holden 17 and 18 inch rims to fit a VX. Offset is not relevant to diameter but for an 8 inch Holden rim an offset of 48 is common.

VX commodore wheels and rims help

This website should help calculate optimum sizes: https://www.willtheyfit.com/ You could expect 18 inch rims with P235/40/R18 will be a close match. Speedo error: 0.36%. Edit: P235/45/R17 if you want 17's. Speedo error: 0.65%

    VT SS suspension upgrade

Yeah my biggest concern is mismatched components. When I do the overhaul everything will be replaced at once (plans for brake upgrade too). Lowering is not a priority and is desireable really for performance benefits, but who doesn't like a car that sits nicely? It seems easy to get caught up...

    VT SS suspension upgrade

Taken from a local website for Dobinson's: Std = Standard height Lows 30-35mm typically Superlows 45-50mm typically So Bilstein B8's are good down to FE2 or equivalent then? I will talk with some local shops and get some ideas too.
  19. 00SS

    VT SS suspension upgrade

Thanks, superlows it is then. Price isn't too much of an issue, in the sense I would prefer to pay for a quality product that performs well and doesn't fail prematurely. Brands such as Eibach and H&R that have been matched with Bilsteins (see B12's) don't seem be available for the VT. I'll...

    VT SS suspension upgrade

Did you go Low or Superlow, or would you know how much each option would drop the height with Dobi's? I want to drop it maybe "one step" lower than FE2 to keep things practical, so my understanding is Low's are the way to go here. Also, input from anyone who has paired Dobi's (or any other's)...

    VX LS1 or LS3

If you have a VX LS1 I believe these came with the LS6 intake manifold which are better flowing than the LS1 intake (which my VT has). Take a look at the FAST LSX (92mm TB) or LSXR (102m TB) intake manifolds if you want a decent upgrade. There are carb intakes (see Edelbrock Victor Jr.) if you...

    VX LS1 or LS3

Consider the Borg Warner/Tremec T56 if you want a 6 speed manual. I occasionally see these available with the wiring harness, or you could source a manual donor car. I also like the idea of an LS1 stroker.

    VT SS suspension upgrade

Great article, answers all of my questions regarding the rear frame! What are owners using for good lowering springs these days? I'm told by one local dealer that only King Springs are available for the VT now.

    VT SS suspension upgrade

Very informative, thanks. It sounds like the VY frame may be worth changing to if I can find one cheap, then install a 2-point camber kit as suggested. To be honest, I don't plan on drag racing and launching. I would like it corner well and feel more responsive. The VT is obviously not the...

    VT SS suspension upgrade

This IRS setup was carried through to the VZ right? The VY rear subframe seems to be a favourable fix to the negative camber. Will installing lower springs/shorter shocks render this swap pointless?

    My 2000 VT SS Gen3

Hey Zhac, that's a nice looking VT! How are you finding the BC Golds? I'm looking to give my VTII a full suspension overhaul and am torn between coilovers or a nice set of shocks/springs... cornering performance being the main priority.

    VT SS suspension upgrade

After taking some advice from this thread on board, I am considering a new set of Bilstein B8's paired with a new set of quality springs and would upgrade bush, sway bars etc. at the same time. I don't want to drop the height extravagantly, perhaps 50mm max. Has anyone had any experience with...

    VT SS suspension upgrade

Thanks for your reply. Currently there is no excessive tire wear or other indication that camber is an issue. However, I fear this may become an issue if a new suspension package is installed, especially if the car is lower, wheels are changed etc. To clarify, you are referring to excessive...

    VT SS suspension upgrade

Hi, just wanting to know what some preferred options are for upgrading the stock suspension setup on a VT SS to improve cornering performance in both normal and spirited driving conditions (understanding it is a heavy car of course!). I have driven a VX R8 which felt more planted to the road...

    VTII SS brake upgrade

Thanks for your suggestions. I am running 17's and the 330/315mm set up seems ideal. So for this I would need to replace the rotors, pads and calipers?
  36. 00SS

    VTII SS brake upgrade

Thanks for your reply. The 330/315mm HSV brakes appear popular. Are these generally available as a package or is it as simple as replacing the rotors/pads?

    VTII SS brake upgrade

As the title suggests, I would like some options for upgrading the brakes on my VT SS and get familiar with what is available at different price points. IMO the stock brakes' stopping power does not quite keep up with the performance of the rest of the car so any ideas will be appreciated.

LSD oil change - pinion seal

OK, have replaced with an oil compatible with older mineral seals etc. and concluded it is not worth the hassle of opening it up as previously mentioned. Old oil was relatively clean and slightly dark and now immediately have less noise, a smoother drive and no leaks. Will keep a close eye...
