There seems to be quite a few members on this forum that don't have any problems with Truetrac's....
I have read that too. But when talking to my diff builder in Adelaide he told me what the problems are. I just don't remember details as I have a sketchy memory at best. He spoke of another diff builder in Adelaide who has sent back four to Harrop this year alone to fix the engineering problem they have when standard. IIRC it has something to do with the way they engage or the way the bearings sit? They can be fixed but Harrop won't do it unless it's requested.
I'm hoping he replies as then I will be able to post it here.

For the OP I would ask a diff builder to get the correct info before buying a Harrop.

IIRC, the Kaaz does require maintenance. Just a point to keep in mind.

They do, every 10k, after the initial couple of services at 1000ea.

Have seen some that have had a bit of a rattle when coasting !I had one that wore out in 12 months and that kinda put me off, ! Also there r many different truetrac s out here now from India and China that speaks for itself ! We carnt buy the internals to rebuild them like a kaaz. Look some people love them with no grief the ones that people have come to me rattly we oil change to a straight 140 gear oil seems to help! I still fit them if that's what they prefer.

Looking at the pic he sent me its the two side gears that don't engage as much as they can. This can be modified but Harrop don't do it unless asked .

Thanks Steve, and am correct that on the Harrop those two side gears don't engage as much as they could and this is why the other SA bloke sends them back to me machined out for deeper engagement?

long time ago had a gf called kaaz, she hated karen and yep was she a lot of maintenance

On a good note, have a trutrac in the tuff ass old girl, no problems at all, only issue like all diffs really is you got to change oil on a regular mileage basis and use the 140 good stuff not the **** 80/90.
