No the download will begin sometime after 27 July. Its free for win8 for the first year, win7 get it if the pc meets specs.

It looks like win8 but with that win7 feel about it, start menu with live tiles, u boot straight into desktop. During setup u can override the touch stuff when upgrading on a tablet.

you can make your windows 8 boot into desktop mode... and install a small program called startisback to give you back the start bar...

I also got the win10 email.

Are we sure about that. My reading of it was that you get it free for a year but then have to pay for it.
