Hi Team,
Well cruisng along on the highway, all of a sudden just wouldn't go into 4th. No matter what way I tried. 1st, 2nd, 3rd working perfect. I pulled over as soon as I could safely on Highway...but whilist in 4th it felt like it slipped a little/no drive then grabbed drive but stayed in 3rd.
I've had the car about 300,000kms/20years and its never missed a beat, I do the tranismission oimyslef - castrol or penrite.
It is the 4L60E with the deep pan.
I dropped the pan after a tow home, kinda hoped the filter may of just slipped off, but It hadn't. Nothing visual I can see - but the oil is discoloured but not burnt, so its due. Did a new filter and fluid - all seems okay, can they really be senesitive like that?
Even the gregorys manual says oil/filter change and if continues, take to a specialist.
See what it does over the next few drives, or is it time to just rebuild it anyway?
