so I ducked into repco to get some oil and filters to service our cars and thought I would enquire about a service kit for the calipers. ~$45 per side, kit includes pistons and seals, so they are on order and should be in on tues/weds. bought 5l of brake fluid and have on order a vacuum bleeder so I don't have to bust my ass.

i'll start by cleaning the master cylinder and changing the fluid all round, hasn't been changed since the install. im hoping there's some crud jamming one of the pistons which is causing my issues.

if not i'll swap rotors around and see if the issue follows.. or at worst just rebuild the calipers.

running out of options.

I should get myself one of those vacuum brake bleeders. My current brake bleeding assistants are at that age where they either are never here when I need em or they don't want to hang with dad.........

had mine for over five years and also brought it of ebay and makes it easy to do a flush but still need a person to pump the pedal after the new fluid been sucked through to pressurize the system but he/she not sitting there pumping and pumping,

i only suck half out of the m/c and fill with fresh fluid and remembering keep it full

Nice to know, recon I'll be getting one. Make it a bit easier to bleed brakes.

Finally some closure to this thread, which should help someone in future.

Seal kit was replaced and in doing so, found the pistons had gunk build up from old fluid and oring rubber stuck to them.

After cleaning the pistons and bores with 2000grit sand paper, installing new seals and dust boots, the pad dragging has stopped.

The gunk wouldn't allow the pistons to retract smoothly which caused my issue.

Thanks. I have been waiting 7yrs for the conclusion.

But also seriously the how I fixed it part on the end of an issue thread is the best.

You and me both :D how time flies.

When the engine gets up to temp and its warm outside the pedal and car shook. The hot dragging pads when stopped transferred material to the rotor caused high spots.

I'd wire brush the rotors to clear the material off which would do the job for a few months before it started again.

So regardless of the caliper, it's worth giving them a dismantle to clean and replace the seals.
