Trans update:
Getting close, need to purchase few small seals, pistons, for trial fit for hub, to make sure we set up the 3-4 clutches correctly approx. 0.040" clearance

Short block
Pulled the 8 pistons out to check bearings one last time, to see if any marks. No all good
dropped the 0.051" head gaskets in place
replaced head bolts for ARP
clamped up to 95Nm

Pushrods:
dropped the Isky/johnson HR lifters in using adjustable pushrod went through and checked pattern on #1 intake and exhaust valve @ 7.9", 8.0", 8.1", 8.2" length
NB: made the marketing clearer on pushrod with darker line

Which option gives best pattern?
A. 7.90" length
B. 8.00" length
C. 8.10" length
D. 8.20" length

8.0 looks good (assuming the black line is your indication of the roller location).

yea 8 looks closest, what ever has the most load full lift in the center, if its slightly off when its not under full spring then thats ok as long as it trends to center as more pressure is applied, if it starts in center then goes off center at full lift that is bad, also with the johnson lifters measure all of them as they can need different length pushrods or find one that will be within the average of all, they can be different

You think the Johnson/isky lifters would be different in height
I suppose if i measured from top of the lifter body to pushrod cup then they should be same. If they are that far off then they not worth the $$
But I will check tomorrow

I will note, with iron heads, they can take a little extra on the valve tip.
It's alloy heads that exacerbate the issue.
It's all about guide purchase, so as long as the roller is close, it'll be fine.
But some engines will swing more, this is bad on heads with not much purchase on the guide because it can loosen, IE some alloy heads.

But good work so far.

Also remember the valve stem will move upwards over time as the valve seat wears in.

they are top quality but if they are like the LS lifters u have to measure all as they can be slightly different, mine were all within bout 0.020 so to keep all preload within the .035 +/- 0.010 i have adjustable lifter cups, they are known for it and in the US u always hear about people ordering different lengths for the non adjustable rocker setups if they are too far out on preload, usually if ur lifter are within the .060 - 0.100 preload like stock its not worth worrying about, mine have been fantastic not a single tick or noise from them even very first start, i found it odd that they are that way but seems normal for them not sure why but worth checking
