Vk or VL diff

Hey there could anyone tell me what diff this is out off
Code of the casing of diff Is U18L5
Diff ratio is 3.23, cheers

Yep vk diff.

Vl is 3.45 gears.

Almost same length but different length axles.


If it's out of a 6cyl vk flat diff flange & 3.23 gears it's a b/w....u bolts & 3.08 gears it's a junker.....drums always 25 spline.

So it's a vk v6 b/w diff? Has 3.23 gear ratio

6cyl n/a diff if has drums & discs probably calais both 25 spline tooth picks....never got 28 spline untill vl diff for v8 & turbo cars.

But you can fill it with 28 spline goodness if you wish (or 31 if you want to make big power). Any BW 75/78 compatible diff centre will work, then you just need some custom axles to suit what ever brakes you run.

28 spline axles if using factory lsd or knockoff truetrac...think it only comes 28 spline.

31 spline and spool or genuine truetrac as axles cost same.

Is in a 308 vk, had a m21 box in it originally but guy prior swapped it for auto, all in all is it just v6 diff? (Maybe different diff gears? As havent opened it up yet.....) Had to swap the trailing arms bushings out as the nolathane ones crumbled to bits thought would have a check while under there just get abit of understanding on car itself

Take a pic of diff flage & diff cover plate....might still have v8 salisbury in it if it was a factory v8 car.

Salisbury would have 28 spline axles,u bolts in diff flange & fairly sure diff plate would have different gasket/bolt pattern to borgwarner.

Cars are that old everything could have been changed if dont know history of 40yr old car lol
