In what way? Unbolting them and using an external trans cooler?

Can you put up a photo of what you are talking about?

I thought the trans cooler lines were just clamped onto hose barbs? (I'll be honest, I can't remember how these are fitted) The rubber lines will be hard so most likely after removing hose clamps just cut the lines and replace.

Agreed, need pics....Both my VC and VH Commodores are manual gearboxes, so they don't have the transmission lines. My memory is hazy how they fit

I even checked a Gregories and Max Ellery workshop manual to get an idea, but no luck, as I can't find the gearbox lines where they go into the radiator

If they are rubber into a barb at the radiator, they can be a bugger to remove, once the clamp is undone...Just place a small flat bladed screw driver inbetween the hose and barb and move it around the barb to help move it.

If it has a flare style nut, unbolt it...Will come free

I’m pretty sure it’s a flare nut style, just can’t see them. Pretty sure I’m gonna have to undo the shroud by the looks
What’s everyone’s method to release the w clips that hold the radiator down?

My VH had steel lines but I can't remember the connection at the radiator, it may have been a flare nut.

The trimatic had rubber hoses at the transmission end ( I remember because I had a pin hole in one that blew straight onto the headers and created the most awesome smoke show) so that makes me think the radiator was hard mounted with flare nuts.

smee?... easy as

long screwdriver and push down hard on one of the recesses of the clip (which is on top of a rubber mounting block)
then while pushing down, lean screwdriver over (towards the side of the car) and release the tang on the clip out of the body panel

do it once and it becomes second nature

I use a pair of pliers to release the clips that hold the radiator to the car..Squeeze the clamp together and out it comes

The lines are bolted to the right hand side of the radiator...Not sure if the shroud covers them, as I don't have one fitted

To the side? Do you mean towards the firewall?
