To achieve an awesome smooth texture and shine, should I apply the enamel colour coats, let them cure and then give it a sand with say 1500/2000 grit? Then when the clear coats are done, should I do the same thing before polishing? It relates to an interior plastic item. Cheers.

I'd say it depends on how it came out of the gun / spray can.

If the quality of the spray job is good, it shouldn't need a rub but if you have the time/patience do it anyway - can't hurt.

Sanding is also a good way to help eliminate orange peel (not sure if you have that problem or not).

Ah k, I might just hit it with a fine cutting compound that I borrowed off a mate, now that the clear coat is done anyways.
