Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows what that could be:

Almost each time when I manually (key) start the SV6 VF 2014 on hot days with a still hot motor I experience an immediate engine start with rather strange grinding noises that stop a second after.

There's no normal crank sound etc like it happens on a cold engine. After I turn and hold the key for 0.001 sec there is an immediate and abrupt start of the motor with some ( I presume it's the starter) noises, like some gears have not disengaged yet because of such a fast start.

On a couple of occasions I had to immediately turn the motor off because the "grinding gear" noise would not stop at all.

Car has 98K mileage, have it almost from new. Has had this phenomenon for some time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, that is what I would suspect but why such a fast start? Is there any explanation of it? Thx

That’s not the issue. Focus on the noise.

I’d suggest a buggered starter motor.
