Are they the same type of strips the ute has? I didn't think they were painted, rather they are black rubber coated?

Mine are black plastic.....don't appear to be painted.

Plastidip will do the job but don't know how long it will last.

Other option is to mask off, sand, prime and paint.

I removed the plastic cover where roof racks mount (that piece to the left in the pic) and there is a metal substrate underneath a mm or so of the black plastic.

That's the same as mine. I thought it was rubber like the windscreen side strip's.

VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
All the strips from VT-VF are similar surface treatment. It’s a rubberised plastic. Super hard to fix up but I think after a few fails with them, I’m certain rhinoliner would be a good solution. Down side is that the amount needed for a few strips is going leave a lot left over and it’s expensive. The strips are getting hard to find and expensive to buy for junk ones.

Be good to see how these turn out.

That’s them.

I have VZ and VE ones in the garage. I did post about their interchangeability in my Cross8 thread but can’t recall the details off the top of my head. One has a slight curve. The profile is the same.
