VZ SS 6.0 Thunder Ute
Hi guys,

Picked up a clean 2007 SS Thunder ute recently

Usual mods will ensue shortly, a few things need to be fixed first.

Cheers, Nate

Finally got some new shoes, I'm surprised how much the 20x9.5"s affect acceleration! You'd think a 6.0ltr V8 would have no problem

They look nice but unfortunately if they are cast they will be quite heavy.
A lot of inertia for the diff to turn over.
Independent tests have shown the HSV/Holden forgings to be better acceleration than the cast versions.

acceleration?
Your speedo would be out which would be the only extra acceleration you would be seeing :p
I can program clusters to suit the wheels size though ;)

With 9.5 you would be getting a lot more grip though, providing you havent cheaped out on tyres

wheel diameter wont make a lick of **** difference to the speedo. incorrec tyre rolling diameter does that ;)

This is true, but going from 17's to 20's can you have the correct tyre rolling diameter? And if it IS correct and its the same rolling diameter then why would you feel "more" acceleration.

Dont hate... Educate :D ... as in educate me because im actually curious

Considering he is saying a 6.0l V8 should have no problem i assume its actually accelerating slower due to the heavier rims, wider heavier tyres and more/less grip depending on tyre quality.

and you can get close with the rolling diameter.

I do like the rims though :)
