Manual Gearbox stuck in Reverse in 2002 Holden Cruze

Hi All A mate has a 2002 Holden Cruze with a 5 speed manual gearbox.
It has stuck in Reverse.
Does anyone know how to get it out reverse or is there a trick to finding out how to fix it

That is the first I have heard of this happening,

Possible google it to se if any other owner has had the same issue.

is that one where u have to lift the latch or press down on the shifter to engage reverse ? press clutch in and play around with it, if its got some load on the gear it may not shift out

I have had this happen in a Kia Pregio van. To get it out of gear we pushed/rocked it back and forward. It eventually popped out of gear. Never knew the root cause of the problem as we sold the whole fleet of 3.
