A 2nd L67?

Work out the weight of your car, then go and find an online calculator and work out how much power you will need to run a 9 second pass and then see if there are any L67's out there making that much power.

An L67 could probably do it but probably not in a Commodore when you consider the weight.

This is one online calculator. I put 3200lb as guess on the weight though.

Search google for 1/4 mile calculators.

Moroso do a good manual slide calculator, not sure if they do an online one.

Keep in mind that these calculators assume good suspension set up and good launch characteristics.

Dropping weight is easily your biggest advantage at this power level.

Strip the car out, using light weight panels and windows....Only have a single seat (probably out of alloy), only the wiring required to run the motor/gearbox combo....No lights at all....

Do research on the lightest wheels and make sure they're un balanced when tyres are fitted (excess wheel weights)...

Then start on the motor/gearbox/diff mods in preparation for those figures

Use an early ute or sedan - the VN to VS series are the lighter vehicles by far. The utes use a solid rear axle which is easier to deal with on a budget.

Drop weight by removing trim such as carpet and sound deadening. This will help, even if only a small bit.

Start from scratch and make as much power from the engine as you dare. You certainly can throw in a camshaft and a GT45 ebay turbo which will net you 600hp... if you tune it right!

The secret for most stock-block turbo build is using a tune which stops massive torque production through the midrange - think about it, torque breaks rods yeah? Lots of torque at low to mid RPM (2500 - 3500) means that torque is acting on the rods over a relatively larger period of time than say at 5000+. So pulling timing under 4500rpm is usually part of the equation to try and keep a flat torque curve.

Here's Richard Holdner with a verified 600 horse 3800 at only 1 bar of boost.
