This question may sound dumb but ive always wanted to know....What is done to the HSV's to get more power out of them than the standard SS, E.g. 2009 Clubsport (317 kw) Vs 2015 VFII SSV (304 kw). Is it just an exhaust, intake and tune? or are there more changes. Thanks in advance

Previously to the VE's they use to change the CAM profiles on the GTS's/SV6000 - So VT/VX/VY/VZ.

However the Clubsport's/Maloo's where just exhaust, intake(LS1 only) and tune. But the 6.xLtr(LS2/3's) had Heads and CAM that are different to Holden use of the 6.xLtr(L76, L77,L98 & I think L99) - E.g. No DOD for HSV. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LS_based_GM_small-block_engine.

HSV and Holden also measure power figures differently. If the tune, exhaust, engine etc. were exactly the same in both Holden and HSV variants, the HSV would still have a higher quoted output.
