How to identify what model Ecotec motor I have

Ford Courier with exotic v6 engine
Hi members, I just bought an ecotec 3.8 L and was wanting to find out what model it is so I can order parts

HSV VS Senator, VX Calais II L67
No EGR and alloy fuel rails is from VS.
EGR and steel fuel rail VT-VY, then you need to look at the intake PCV port location inside the plenum. If the PCV hole is located in front of the TB than it's the later ecotec, if the PCV valve is next to the intake runner then I believe it's from the VT's.

Hope you know what model/year car you bought,
Maybe look at the Compliance plate,
possibly would be the first place to look,
Then do a bit of homework on/about it.

You forgot to mention a L67 info.

But there was a few variants of the ecotec I believe.

There are but materially speaking the big changes were PCV location, EGR and a change in the valley gasket design.

There were also changes in head castings, different rods and other minor production changes but non of those will be noticeable unless you tear an engine down and look at casting numbers etc.

The engine number should give some clues but post some pictures of the top of the engine.
