most delaers don't worry about the retunes, some send car there themeselves. But if it some thing big and your worried the stock cals can be reloaded back in 5 mins.

Tuners keep the files of tunes on your car.

Another way is to have a 2nd cloned pcm with a stock tune for emergencies.

If you want ideas for LS1 upgrades buy a Street Commodores magazine. They have a monaro project car that they are working on, which will be useful as a guide. Once you buy one magazine, you'll never stop buying them.

But basic ones are....
Exhaust upgrade + extractors = sometimes up to 30kw
MAF pipe*
Larger Throttle body*
CAI* *Most of these can be done at SS Inductions
Airflow meter*
K&N filter

Or you could just bolt on a blower!!!!

Mate, I'm with Jules here ! Warranty !?

Street Commies and Street Machine have/are both building gen 3 cars.
Wait til the warranty runs out, this will give the motor afew more kays, and have loosened up abit!
Thats when u go apeshit on whatever you / bank can afford !
OR
Wait for the gen 4 to come out, theres noth'n worse than spending a fortune, to be blown to the weeds by the owner of the next model stocka. Just ask anyone who bought a new strocker HSV, with the Harrop kit !
