You might be able to put the thing into recovery mode and plug it in, it's how I load ROMs onto my phone whenever I re-flash it.

Well I was about to write up some laborious, complex 'how to' on fastboot and live recovery to use adb until a colleague mentioned an app called Droid Screen, looks pretty cool. Naturally with a Google I found this: Broken Samsung Galaxy S4 Screen - how to retrieve data? - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com Same principles should apply to yours.

Give that a crack first, it's been a long week and I'd really like to drink beer and watch Star Trek TNG re-runs in my trunks tonight :)

Hey I just remembered this thread and my lack of getting back to you guys about it. Well I did all that SDK droidscreen business and couldn't get it to work. Because I had a screen lock my HTC just literally would not let my computer communicate with it. I tried heaps of different things but I just couldn't do anything about it. Their pretty secure the old HTC's.

Anyway so I ended up buying a new digitizer and screen off ebay and trying to fix it myself. I pulled it all appart like a real surgeon under my lamp and put the new screen in and put it all back together :D as far as I know I didn't do anything wrong. I got all exited and turned it on. It flashed one of the lights and did nothing LOL. I tried folowing some guides on what the flashing lights meant but i think she's a lost cause. Got the new M9 anyway because my contract just ended so I'm not too bothered anymore.

Just got reminded because my little bro broke his screen and he wants to get some stuff off his phone. I think we can probably do it all with the sony recovery program that came with his phone though but it's good to have the option.
