Old mate John Cadogan did his bit on the pallet Jack like hoist the other week. It looks a great idea and scary as fk at the same time.
Then again, people putting cars on bricks and bits of wood is scary AF.

Anybody bought a hoist recently?

Bendpak, Joel’s Garage Gear, Hero Hoists, Molnar etc?
Joel's 2 post base just purchased a couple weeks ago and installed.
Had a Joel's 2 post clear floor before that.

Joel gear is good for home, not badly priced. we have been happy with our old clear floor, the base is some getting used to.
It has a base, the arms seem to be slightly higher to compensate (issues with getting the beemer on)
its slower, the safety catches are on the posts instead of on the post near the motor, so the clack clacks are annoying, and needing to twang each safety lock off each post.

Mostly my gripes are because we came from clear floor to a base, and its different.

They don't come with plugs so you will have to get an 'electrician' to wire on a plug

still better than lying on the ground under jack stands.

Thanks!

I'm after a 4 poster because it'll double my car storage space.

The shed has 3 phase - is there any benefit going 3 phase over single phase for a hoist? Or just a case of using 3 phase because its available?

I did look into this a while ago but need to familiarise myself with it all again...............

If you have 3 Phase, use it,
Its more efficient, and less labor of the motor.

if we had stayed at the workshop we were going to go for 4 post as well. they do a few neat options with heights and widths to get them fitting nicely.

We have single only because we are limited to that here. At the workshop we choose single because we thought we would be moving it home eventually.

I have noticed with the solar/battery requirements that more & more new houses are being build with 3 phase. Good for hoists!
