fuses, what a magical little peice of modern engernering. let's go into a brief history of the fuse. the fuse is a small peice of wire between a "blade" atatched at each end. the blade's are simply there to provide a maximum amount of surface space to alow the good flow of electrical current. it flowes threw a small peice of wire, which is only rated at a certain amound current. if you blow a fuse, you shouldnt alway's think that it's the peice of equimpent it's protecting. e.g. headlight's. if you blow a fuse, you shoud check the following

1. grab a multi meter with a continuity test funtion.

simply place one end of the meter into the pos of the fuse holder, and find a negative or earth on the car, if the meter beeps or tell's you there is a fault straight to earth. something is actualy buggered

2. if there is no sound or no circuit that's a good thing. then check the pos cable the whole lenght. if that's good and there is a circuit then check the negative. if that's good, then all is good, you probably just had a loose connection or the fuse was a crapy one.

what you wanna do is make sure that you dont have any loose conections into the fuse box or at the apliance side of the connection. if there is, what happens, is the car will try to produce extra current to make the apliance work, as a result this infact blow's any fuses protecting that apliance. prety easy to fix, just re-solder or clamp or screw.

if you have a fault straight to earth, i would recomand just replacing the aplaince of peice of equipment that's buggered, on a car, things only have a limmited life spane, you try to fix something that's all good and proper, untill it something else on that peice of equipment goes, you would just be better off getting new stuff, (if money permits)

cheers
garth
