Has anyone ever heard of a ECOTEC V6 and automatic transmission and harness, computer etc being removed from a car and used to drive a PTO (Power Take-Off) to power something like a wood chipper, hydraulic pump or other non-automotive application?
Is there a mechanical reason why that would totally not work?
Also, has anyone seen a test rig constructed for the ECOTEC V6 + 4L60-E?
Thanks for reading my unusual thread.

seen them used on all sorts of things massive concrete cutters log slitters winches etc you dont need the gearbox most just couple the hydraulic pump to the crank flange with a rubber centred coupling.

Can't see why it wouldn't work, it may stall easier if using a direct shaft but running a pump should be ok. id be looking for a diesel donk.

Had a mate whom used an old starfire plus engine (cut down holden 6) to run a pressure washer for cleaning servo forecourts.
It was mounted on a specially made trailer with water storage tank.

You might find it easier to use an old carby fed engine for a PTO project but yes, you can use a v6 if you want.

A friend of mine has a 202 powered 30 inch wood saw for cutting redgum sleepers, a truly terrifying piece of machinery but it cuts them like butter, there is v8 chainsaw on youtube aswell
