Or if you have a VZ book since they are the same shape, and people tend to think the differences are minor. This happened to me. I had a VS book and I own a VR. All I wanted at one point was the belt routing diagram but VS routing is nothing like a VR....

Then you get people saying to you,, "the VR is just the same as a VS apart from the engine"? No people the VS has a wod of differences and not just a different donk.... hahahaha

Being new to the ownership of a VY, originally I thought the differences were slight cosmetics and engine, when compared to a VZ.....I since found out through this forum, the dashes are different....Bugger knows what else is different.....

So me thinks, I'll stick with my older stuff...At least it is easier swapping stuff out and cheaper too :p

If you told us it what it was you would have been given a correct answer.
If it’s aVZ it has an Alloytec engine and 5-30 is the oil like it or not.
Too thick means it will not work as well in that engine.
But if you think you know best good luck with that.

Normally you can go 5 winter weight either way, depending on mileage of said engine. If it says 5w, 10w should be ok. If it's an Eco 15 winter is fine if the km are getting up. Sometimes going too thin causes problems regardless ofrecommended oil. Too thinner oil can slip past the rings easier on Alloytecs that already have issues with sludge.

Don't take too much notice of what Gossie suggests. He says re service intervals the best is the book, yeah well most know Holden didn't get that right. It's a major reason for later V6s sludging up.....

I'd be looking at a 10w but have heard Penrite 10w syn can make the Eco a little rattly on start up. May or may not happen on your engine. But remember Eco is still basic tech and you don't normally need to run expensive oils in them.

If you look at the thread title, I reckon that answers that question.

Now the real question is, how can one go by a book, if that book doesn't exist in the car?
