Got it up and running again.
seemed like the old one was having a hissy fit.
when I put new one in and had a small bit of ink on the fingers, did clean up a little bit of the nib that inserts into the cartridge (for lack of better words)
few more nozzle cleans and checks and it was back up and running.
lets see how long it lasts for now
