I have been looking into buying a new printer for home for a while, just thought I might be able to get some opinions and some hopefully an insight as to what to look for and potentially buy.

Budget for this is going to be $500. but if its a bit more then so be it.

requirements are this:
-Colour printing
-A3 and A4 required, if it can have both loaded in at once, that's a bonus.
-Good quality of print.
-ability to scan. preferably able to load up a few sheets to scan through fast, and also the ability to place it onto the scanning glass manually.
-Wireless - currently have to turn on another computer whenever I want to print.
-Double Sided Printing (of atleast the a4 stuff)
-Not overly Large like that of a proper floor standing office printer. needs to fit on a bench at home

currently tossing up between these 2 but would love some more input.
WorkForce WF-7620 - Epson Australia
WorkForce WF-7520 Specifications - Epson Australia

I am liking the first one due to borderfree a3.

Sorry mate , just extracting the urine , probably the more expensive the printer the more reasonably priced the ink cartridges .

don't worry. I picked up on the sarcasm quite quickly :p

im sure anything would be better than our current 10+ year old printer that's at about 2 sheets a minute in printing speed
having to print out these reports I wrote for school right now.
25 pages each. this is going to be fun.
also cannot leave it to print because it falls back on the infeeding paper.

harvey normans have the Epson WorkForce 7510 for $229

also if your worried about ink prices you can look at getting a continous ink supply system. and then just buy bottles of ink

well I bought the 7620.
so far its good.
has far exceeded my expectations.

found out I can print stuff via email.
gave it a whirl and was very impressed.
wirelessly scanning, printing and so forth.

only downside is:
size of the printer. its MASSIVE! more for an office. but could always place it somewhere out of the eyes.

oh and the fact it has taken me a few hours to set up.
but that's human error and lack of smarts with technology :p

well then.
so it went great for a while but all of the sudden the black ink just does not want to work at all.
and no its not empty, it has a reasonable amount left in it.
hasn't printed an overly massive amount to really warrant the ink to be considered "empty" anyway.

halfway through an important doc it went from black perfectly fine to just no black whatsoever

so any suggestions?
in terms of cleaning or the likes.

going to buy new ink tomorrow for it, and if that doesn't fix it then im going to have to do something about it.
might have a chat to them instore tomorrow see what they have to say.

but it does seem like a semi common problem.
generally revolving around the print heads and cleaning of them.
but does seem odd that after only a few uses it would have those issues already.
