The biggest annoyance I had when I got my VY was the silly idea of needing your keys in hand to open the boot.
I think it was probably the first mod I did to my car and that was putting a boot release button under the boot garnish, it was so simple it was stupid. I grabbed a Toyota Camry exterior door handle and took the chrome button from it and mounted it left of where the screw goes in the center of the garnish. Just earthed one wire and the other goes to the factory actuator. This wire is only hot when your car is unlocked and doing under 15km/h.
