I Just picked up a VK with a stripped black engine. Was wondering what the best carb for a black is and where I can pick one up from? Also after a dizzy and leads. Cheers

Has it got the injected engine or carbed engine, as VK's came with both.

You'll have to check for wiring to know which it is to begin with.

As for picking the parts up...No idea in NZ....Maybe @Immortality or @Deuce can help, being NZ based....Have tagged them by mentioning their names so wait for their reply

Yeah my uncles old VK Calais, 6cyl had some sort of archaic fuel injection.

No idea where to get parts for a VK. Try Trademe. The wreckers I used to frequent for that era stuff no longer exists unfortunately.

If its a carby not injected, a varajet or 34ADM Weber off a XF Falcon will both work solidly.

If carby get an aftermarket 4 barrel intake manifold and a Holley 465. Had this set up on my old vk sl 202 black and performed well. i think the manifold was a Redline brand one from memory. Before that it just had the standard manifold and Rochester Varajet2 carby.

Or keep the original manifold and use a 350 Holley and an adapter plate like this

Aussie speed are the only ones that make 4 barrel manifolds for blue and blacks now....Sets you back round the $600 mark + the cost of a 465, if you can find a 2nd handie...New I'm not sure of cost

Just in case people think I'm full of it with 4 barrel manifold cost, here's a new one...

Going 2 barrel holley and adaptor, what I got done was the divider on the adaptor and manifold got taken out...Old school speedway trick a mate taught me
