Hi Guys,

As the title says, having issues with the bloody router.

Randomly I loose my internet connection and I get a message saying my router password has changed. Mostly it corrects itself within a few minutes but sometimes I have to re-power the router to fix the problem.

I have tried updating the firmware but it says no updates available :(

Is it kinda old, could just be on its way out. Had a Belkin router myself that started having little issues similar to that, lasted 3 years before it died, but had real annoying issues.

Have you tried to reset the router to factory specs and re input all your details, it's what I had to do and that fixed it for a few months usually.

Just for some info my new router is perfect so far, gone Netgear this time.

As said, factory default, setup the config again from scratch, set a different p/w, and see how it FA. If it screws up its on its way out.

if it's more than 12 months old just bin it, not worth bothering with.

Belkin make horrible networking gear.

Fairly old. It's always done it but it's really starting to give me the shits now.

I'm wondering if it was hacked or something? Had an unknown device on the DHCP client list :( It's be fairly hard to guess the password as it more than 18 characters with upper and lower case letters and numbers, no phrases or anything like that either. Fairly random to a degree.

What are peoples recommendations for a replacement router? Gotta be wireless (usually have 3-4 people using it) middle of the road sort of deal.

ASUS are good
Netgear are ok
TP-Link are ok
Billion are good

Just don't buy the cheapest thing you see.

Just bought mine last week, so far it's perfect but obviously can't speak for long term.
Was a Netgear D6200, around $200. It's a Modem router so all in one. I thought it was easy to setup and use, doesn't have the features of some of the others but works for us.

Wouldn't really go with something too cheap, buy something that will last a few years.

I've owned a few Netgears, a few Billion and just switched to ASUS - to say I'm happy with the ASUS is an understatement and I'd previously not considered them.

As above don't cheap out buy something decent.

I've got one of these

http://www.asus.com/au/Networking/RTAC68U/

There is a modem/router version I just have the router version hooked into a modem.
