aftermarket head unit wont keep settings

i installed a aftermarket headunit in my vz, but when you turn the car off it loses all settings. i connected the memory wire but it still doesnt store. any help?
also what needs to be done to use steering wheel controls? cheers

The memory wire needs to be connected to a constant power source even when the ignition is off check to make sure the memory wire is connected up right also it may have come apart when you put it in

much like all the other threads about this problem, and as one_and_only said, switch the red and yellow wires on the harness
