308 Pulley Alignment

Hi guys,

Doing some maintenance and have noticed the crank pulley and power steering pulley are slightly out of alignment.

Is this likely to cause much of an issue? How is it rectified?

well I had the same thing , throwing PS belts every time I saw more than 6,000rpm was a real pain , even after lining the pulley up all nice a square I still threw belts , my fix was a a double pulley on the water pump and run the belt the same as the alternator , this fixed my issue straight away , I made a pulley out of aluminum , the VT 5.0 had the same thing except the alternator was a serpentine belt I think

Is it actually causing you any trouble?

I had the same trouble with my Vh. It was throwing the belt off. I used a straight edge and had to pack the power steer bracket out with washers. It was only out the distance of a single washer. No more problems.

That is a nice kit but at $1900 it's a bit pricy for the average joe.

It's a real shame Holden never upgraded the belt drives on the 304. V belts are so 1800's technology.
