    VS #4 V6 T Build Log

Pretty sure that's the same TIG I got off the mate that he was using for a long time. If memory serves me right it wasn't the easiest to get some really good Alu welds. Since getting a better Tig (some Snap On one) Alu welds have been alot nicer. Can't remember the settings, but there was...

    VS #4 V6 T Build Log

It all takes time, learning settings, how it reacts, everything else in between. Spent a few years in a specialised manufacturing environment with some very very skilled fabrication guys for things like welding. Some had welds that looked alright and worked fine, others were guys that have been...

Still haven't been past the great butcher for a while. But did pick up some nice sauces from a place up the Murray River at Yarrawonga called "Rich Glen" Started out as a farm gate type thing and now started to get a bit bigger with shops (and can sometimes be found in some bigger grocery...

    Plug Gaps older motor.

That's some good info. Thought I'd read more into it and found that the bigger gap needs a stronger charge, so could indicate the elec system needs a check over. Which would also explain the smaller gap helping a bit too. Going to grab some new leads for it. Do also have a feeling an injector...

    Plug Gaps older motor.

Having a think. Put new plugs in (stock NGK 1.5mm gap) as per the manual for the VS V6. Checked with the feeler gauges. Noticed the car running a little bit rougher, maybe a bit more fuel usage. I think last time I regapped the plugs to about 1.3mm. Which I think I'll do again. Would anyone...

Got to play with the Power Supply. Can recommend it. Told the old man about it (being only $100) and he reckons thats pretty good. Looking at it, couldve maybe gone for the 60v variable one, or a dual channel. But for one to chuck in the Shed itll do just whats needed.

what did you do to your car today?

Spanner, No good. Multi Grips, No Good. Other Spanners and Sockets, No Good. Bigger Multis, No good. Stilsons, No Good. Mashy and a Cold Chisel. Woohoo! Finally got the Sump Bolt out. Destroyed in the process, but its out!. Put a new Sump Plug in (for reference is a 24x1.5 thread) Did an oil...

what did you do to your car today?

Well I partially rounded some corners. It looked like it was a new sump bolt (requires a 19mm) so I'm unsure if something else has binded. As a result I picked up a new sump bolt so we can go to town on the old one and rip it off. Not using poor quality spanners either, have Sidchrome, Bahco...

what did you do to your car today?

Trying to do an oil change. Starting to Round the sump plug.... (I didn't do it up) It's not a 19mm. It's not an 18mm. It's not an 11/16 it's not a 3/4.... It's some stupid size that shouldn't exist.... May aswell buy a new one to replace it, but still...

Calling on the Shannons (or similar) insured V8 crew, can I have a price check please.

Can't say I had it that bad last time. Pretty sure I left a message and they called back or something like that. Did mean speaking to someone local too which was handy. Or you just got them at a bad day/time when every man and his dog was calling through. Once you start getting to online...

No pics this time. I'll get some carefully angled ones next time so it looks bigger and all that. Might not be for a few weeks as I don't think I'm passing said butcher for a while.

Finally !!! New Reproduction Headlining Board and Fabric are available for Sedans

What would it cost to actually fix one to a quality standard anyway. Fabric, time, glues, skills at an upholstery joint would be a few hundred anyway. So when added up, is $850 really that bad? *hmmmmm*

Definitely going to get more of that dry aged Scotch Fillet next time going past the Butcher. Was so nice. Juicy, Tender, Melt in Mouth. So hard to justify buying meat from Supermarkets or alot of Butchers now since finding so many good Country places (with quite delectable prices too)

Calling on the Shannons (or similar) insured V8 crew, can I have a price check please.

Left Shannons last year as they went up considerably. It was as though they thought they had the market cornered and the pricing was based off their Suncorp owners usual calculators. Ended up jumping over to Lumleys, but thats because the SV is a really limited numbers Model and they do those...

    Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

Realising today I didn't have the right cable to do a task. Micro USB to USB A. So didn't do the task (it's a volunteer type thing I should note) The Toolbags have everything under the sun in them normally. Had another look at home. Just found a few of those Micro USB to USB A Cables *facepalm*

And yet Viva dont exactly use that name in Aus other than at the Refinery and on Aviation stuff. They chose not to, from my understanding, because most people had no idea who they were (massive overseas though) Still remember when Viva officially took over the Shell Aviation stuff, those guys...

what did you do to your car today?

Umm... I think the oil usage in the toy is negligible. If in a year the toy does 600kms its a big year. The daily VS cops the usage. It gets 20w-50 whatever is on special. The toy gets as many washes as servo visits it feels like. Apparently you can order 1L 10 tenths bottles. Don't want 4L...

what did you do to your car today?

Picked up a filter and plugs for the VS. Already have oil here. Might get some fresh leads too. Going to give it a service. (I can do anywhere from 200 to 1200kms a week for work, past few have been 1000kms a week, so came around quick). Washed the SS. Finally looks shiny. Enquired about some...

Bench seat with a floor manual is always interesting though. Depends on who is in the middle :p Watching the LIV Golf comp on TV. Car failing to start, clicks but doesn’t crank, when it eventually cranks it will turnover - VZ Commodore

Definitely recommend getting the Battery Load Tested first. Quick and Easy thing to potentially rule that out. Had it in the SS where it would click but fail to want to start or crank. (somehow it appears to allign with where in its system check it was) Battery was completely gone (had like...

VS SS Commodore 1996 Speedo not working

what did you do to your car today?

New Battery in the VS. Went the slightly more CCA version from Century as it spends a bit more time in the cold. Thought I should get it checked out, battery tester showed a cell was down. Would hate to have known the age of the battery, but it had definitely done its duty. Also swapped the...

    Scary moment in my Ute.....

Might also be worthwhile seeing a Diff Shop and getting a price from them. Not standard in the low end ones I assume My VS (00) came with a single spinner. Things that p*** you off/bug you/annoy you

As someone who gets to see alot of analytics and numbers in the background, there is going to be a need for baseload and peaking power. The old man always says to me to go fill up because of the cycles. But i work in the country. It literally hasnt changed in months. So i fill up in the country on the way to work, dont worry about the cycles as they are fairly priced. And i mostly ignore the city/suburbs price cycle.

I've got a few of those multifunction devices, they work well, but this needs to be a fairly "dumb" device. Yeah it's the tolerances and selection of the components. Basically I'm trying to figure out the component values to give the values I need/want. But I think because it's such a small...

how reliable is a L98 vz ss thunder engine? and how to make it more reliable?

There's a bunch of them on carsales right now. Depends on where you are but there are plenty in the lower to mid 20s with alot less kms.
