VZ power window dramas- all help much appreciated

Nice one, I'll check tomorrow in the daylight. And thanks for the diagram- I can see all those colours. Presumably if I bypass/ bridge the orange/yellow power with the green white (FR- RT- UP ) I can eliminate the switch as the problem? Thanks----- I'll read your VE post.

VZ power window dramas- all help much appreciated

Drivers elec window suddenly stopped working. Pulled door card- no voltage to end plug of the appropriate wire when switch activated. Have tried brand new switch module and brand new motor/mechanism (thanks Holden spares Punchbowl!) Still no go. Click is heard from behind dash. All windows...

Keys ruined, or so I thought. Sharing my most recent drama.

Final update- fixed! Big kudos to Repco on the Map key $98 and programmer $74 (cant say which branch) for let's just say forgetting to take payment off me after sliding the items across the counter with a wink. I was suspicious and worried after seeing all the bad reviews, Supercheap getting...

Keys ruined, or so I thought. Sharing my most recent drama.

There are loads of threads here about the vz key I thought I'd add my story. Last night my main key went into the washing machine duh. This key was actually an after market blank into which I had put my good circuit board but I had gently prized the spot welds from the old battery and...

VZ auto- starter ring gear broken--- ideas anyone?

PS: my Jag has 12 cylinders that is my preference after 6cyl - only problem is you have to tow an oil tanker behind in the Jag! This alloytec is a thoroughly undervalued motor- i don't know why there isn't a proper aftermarket for tuning it.

VZ auto- starter ring gear broken--- ideas anyone?

Taken advice here. Its booked in. Estimate is $7-800 plus towing and parts/fluid etc. I guess it now becomes a forever car. This wagon is the longest Ive ever had a vehicle (my brand new 2013 VW transporter was previous record holder at 3 years)- I plan to keep it forever and just do the repairs...

VZ auto- starter ring gear broken--- ideas anyone?

Hi everyone. Been a terrible day. Drove to Bunnings and parked on the street outside. Got in to go home and horrendous noise on turn-key. Guessed the starter so I came back later with tools and pulled the starter (needed to remove the exhaust manifold to get to it). I was hoping it was just the...

Trying to do a radiator flush had incorrect green need to get back to correct red coolant.

Man thats very very reasonable! Forgot to say I've only go the alloytec- if the thermostat came out without having to half strip the motor it would be a basic job- but anyway. Will update Sydney prices after a ring round tomorrow. PS: Ron B post is great but again its for the 8

Trying to do a radiator flush had incorrect green need to get back to correct red coolant.

Thanks mate. Thats good info. I've heard its a BAD idea to have a red/green sludge happening. I'll just bite the bullet and go get a quote. Just curious- what do you pay for a flush roughly in Tasmania- I reckon in Sydney no shop would do the flush only- they'll insist on the whole job...

Trying to do a radiator flush had incorrect green need to get back to correct red coolant.

So Ive run some flush for a few dozen kms and now Ive been just been flushing with hosetap water- trying to dilute the green mix out. Ive got the demineralised water and GM correct Red stuff ready to go. I'm not doing a thermostat out as too hard from the consensus I'm reading here. My...

Coil packs- anyone know a Sydney shop I can buy over the counter- Not The big ones

Yes I know I paid probably $100- $150 too much. But I was being driven crazy by the whole eBay/Amazon thing. How do you really know you are getting ? Ive decided over the counter is the only way to go now- on everything. On a similar situation I’m a carpenter and have been stung online buying...

Coil packs- anyone know a Sydney shop I can buy over the counter- Not The big ones

Hi Mate. Yes my cheap Chinese OBDII scanner didn’t give an exact answer but the mechanic who did another fix job used the expensive machine and told me one was failing- I didn’t get the exact cylinder number and felt he would probably want to charge me again if I went back. Anyway, today I went...

Coil packs- anyone know a Sydney shop I can buy over the counter- Not The big ones

I hear you but to be honest I’m totally over the whole issue. Five out of six are 212,000km old. It’s a twenty minute job. The gasket is only six months old so no need for another one. I just want to make the warning light go away or at least narrow the problem away from it being the coils. My...

Thanks. I hadn’t heard of them. I’ll call in tomorrow and see what they can do. Cheers

Coil packs- anyone know a Sydney shop I can buy over the counter- Not The big ones

My 06 VZ needs coil packs- I replaced one for a slight improvement but obviously need to do all 6. Things is, due to politics of how we”re being slowly screwed over I”m a bit funny about big franchise business and even more funny about flea-bay etc. i”m just looking for a good old school parts...

PCV or MAP sensor issues not sure what’s next to try fix.

So I’ve done the PCV valve job - drilled 3mm top end and pair of 2.5mm holes into the head end. It was blocked prior to doing the mod- wasn’t stubborn blockage just needed some spray and was good to go. Took it out again 100k after doing the mod and still clear. Unfortunately the Check...

PCV or MAP sensor issues not sure what’s next to try fix.

Wow, that’s awesome info- thanks for that. I guess I’ll be going down this road as well, meticulously crossing each potential issue of the list . I’ve now got at least four more things to look at apart from vacuum leaks based on your experiences- cats, exhaust manifold cracks/ leaks, O2...

PCV or MAP sensor issues not sure what’s next to try fix.

Thanks Fu Manchu. Great advice- I’ll run through all that this weekend. I saw your post on the pcv valve mod- I’ll give it a shot as well. I’ve got a feeling thou that the heads are full of gunk as well. Mileage has dropped to 22L/100km.

PCV or MAP sensor issues not sure what’s next to try fix.

Shortly after doing a service on my 06 alloytec the check powertrain warning came up and so I used a cheapo OBD2 dongle to find the fault and got a reading of P0105: Manifold Absolute Pressure/ Barometric Pressure Circuit. Most people seem to say that this usually indicates a vacuum leak and...

    Don’t always assume timing chain!

Thought I’d post a quick note to describe my recent engine issues- vz alloytec 3.6 with about 207,000k Was way down on power, running rough and check powertrain was coming on all the time especially if I tried to apply any force or go up a hill too quick. Fuel economy had gone off the chart...
