    VY Factory System upgrade

Ah, I should have realised, it's school holidays. On your way.

    VY Factory System upgrade

Dude, Tonnes of people around the world in different types of cars, try and keep up. I first put a system in my brand new VXII SS in 2002. Do the maths on that if you can. I replaced the lot in that car, ran a new HU, 3 Alpine / MTX amps, all Focal speakers and two 12" Alpine subs. All...

    VY Factory System upgrade

Err, hate to tell you but tonnes of people all over the world leave stock speakers in the rear, or remove them altogether. Simply known as rear fill. You just turn them down in the back usually. I've always done this in many other brands of cars. This is the first time it hasn't worked. In...

    VY Factory System upgrade

Can I ask, did you swap both front and rear speakers at the same time?

    VY Factory System upgrade

Thanks for the reply. Ive no interest in doing any of that. I'll put the standard speakers back in instead. I'm very surprised to see this happen with such sensitive speakers that are designed for running off the headunit. I'm not expecting much here, but it's pretty woeful in the front now. All...

    VY Factory System upgrade

Ok, I threw some 6.5" splits in. High sensitivity units (92 DB). They're very faint compared to the factory rear 2 ohm 6" speakers. The system is quite unbalanced. All the volume is from the rear unless I fade the rears out completely, which doesn't sound right. I've experienced this on my other...

    VY Factory System upgrade

Thanks. I have some 6.5" high sensitivity (good for low power headunis) 4 ohm splits here actually. I'll throw them in and see what they sound like. Cheers

    VY Factory System upgrade

Ah, thanks. I got you.. So, with the fronts, 2 ohm aftermarket splits should be wired the same as the factory speakers, and present the same 4 ohm load to the headunit? Any tricks there to be aware of? Mind you, I can't find any 2 ohm splits, rare as hens teeth. JBL make some 2.3 ohm splits...

    VY Mobile Phone Port Question

I have the RCA mod done to my factory Bluapunkt 6 stacker, so that's where the RCA's plug into as they run directly to the same location that this plug is located as per the diagram above. I'm adding this RFBTRCA adaptor for Bluetooth audio through that headunit.

    VY Mobile Phone Port Question

Thanks for the reply. I should clarify, I'm not fitting a car kit, I'm wiring in a Bluetooth adaptor. RCAs on one end, 12v power on the other. The 12v is as shown below (that's the kit I'm using), with the red and the black wires. So, I'm wiring that into the Holden plug, that's why I wasn't...

    VY Mobile Phone Port Question

I am looking to hard wire a Bluetooth adaptor in my VYII. I've read that there's a mobile phone port on the passenger side of the centre console in VY's. You can get a Holden plug that fits mobile phone port. This plug was used in the old days to wire in aftermarket mobile phone kits. My...

    RCA Bluetooth Adaptor

Hi guys, Along with updated 2 ohm splits / speakers, I want to add a Bluetooth adaptor to my factory VY stereo so I can stream Spotify. The 6 stacker head unit is stock except it has the ASR RCA mod that was never used. I've found two adaptors that run from RCA...

    VY Factory System upgrade

Hi guys, I'm adding new speakers to a VY Series 2 Calais level factory system (standard 6 CD headunit). Speakers in the doors say 2 ohm on them. If I replace these 6" fronts, (including replacement of the factory dash tweeters) and and the 6 " rears with 2 ohm speakers, it's a straight swap...

    O2 sensors

0258005703 appears to be the part number for the 02 sensors. Price here isn't bad and I've used the store before with good results. https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/bosch-0258005703

    O2 sensors

Thanks guys, that is great info. I wasn't too worried about the price for the pair if they are good, but I will now avoid this vendor. I'll look around but reading reviews, the cheap ones seem best avoided.

    O2 sensors

Thanks, I don't have that mechanical ability, so I will need to look around for replacements it seems. I'll check out Pedders. I saw these too:

    O2 sensors

Cars pretty low, so I hadn't tried but may see what I can do.

    O2 sensors

Thanks for clarifying, I had been told that VY Series 1 had 2 sensors, VY Series 2 had 4 sensors. Makes sense, apparently mine are "lazy" and are it seems the original sensors from when the car was built.
  19. R

    O2 sensors

Thanks. Mine are apparently very loose according to the mechanic. I didn't realise you could rebuild them. Does anyone know of a place in Sydney that does these rebuilds? May be best as suggested, to get a used pair from a wreckers and rebuild those so my car isn't off the road. Although, mine...

Thank you. Anyone know how to find what the part number would be for 4 of these Bosch 02s?

    O2 sensors

Hi guys, What's brand is recommended by folks on here for 02s for an LS1 5.7 VY Series 2? I think 4 sensors are needed? Not worried about getting cheap ones, false economy. I would rather buy the best I can get. Or is factory the go? If possible, I guess. I just tried to get new CVs from...

Sounds sweet! Good call on the brakes too, I had the same setup on my Senator and they were great.

Happy 30th Birday Sensei! 1992 VP HSV SENATOR...

Seems smart to me, if you have the engine already and can keep the standard engine to the side unmolested, should be good for the future. I actually had a VP Senator 5000i 20 years ago with a built 355 engine, was a lovely car. Very nice to cruise in. I miss it nowadays, although I'm happy...

Happy 30th Birday Sensei! 1992 VP HSV SENATOR...

That's so sweet! Awesome car! I can't get over the low KMs! I would just leave it as is without the turbo / blower because it seems so right, but as you say your car

    VCM CAI

Thank you for the reply. Very helpful. I actually have the VCM OTRCAI now on my heads / baby cam LS1 5.7 M6, works well but I've now heard the VCM Pod intake and the induction sound is amazing compared to the OTRCAI. I was curious if I would lose anything switching as my car is just a street...

    VCM CAI

Hi, I was wondering, have you had any experience fitting a VCM VT-VY Side Air Box CAI to a 5.7 litre LS1? Any results on a heads and cam car by any chance? Thanks

    Speaker Configuration

Hi, I have tried to find this information everywhere with no luck. Does anyone know how the factory speakers are wired in an 2004 Calais/ Monaro with the 260w system? I understand the following is the case for the factory Blaupunkt 6 stacker system: Front: 6” 2 ohm speakers + 2 ohm...

    LS1 extractors

Thanks but while it may be good info for readers, this has really moved away from what I was asking, I understand the differences between the choices. I have actually already had Tri-Y Pacemakers before I had 1 5/8 4 > 1 shorties. I personally wouldnt buy Tri-Y again over the CSV shorties (which...

I think its worth knowing and considering as part of the choice of replacement extractors or indeed if I change at all.

Sounds good. Good luck with the changes, sounds like it should be a great street car.

    LS1 extractors

Thanks for the replies, everyone. There's some great information here! I had not even thought about Hurricane Headers. They sound like they could be a better option than the Pacemakers. The responses also confirm my thoughts on the DPE long headers. I wouldn't look at swapping to Tri-Y headers...

    LS1 extractors

I'm looking at replacing the shorty CSV 4>1 on my VY series 2 spec LS1. The shorties are currently mated up to twin 2.5" system including 100 CPI Ballistic cats and DPE stainless system. The car has a cam and Higgins ported 241 heads. I'm assuming the shorty headers are holding me back with...
