ok ill admit it, im thick! The error ive been making is when I get to 'reset' flashing I kept holding the mode button instead of pushing mode once then pushing the two up and down buttons. Thanks for everyones help!

Actually spring on top it hugs the rim where the nozzle meets the body. Thats how I pulled it out originally. Ill soon find out!

Hello again, sorry to annoy everyone, im doing the inlet manifold gaskets on the vu v6 ute, pcv valve was covered in oil and sludge so I have a new one. Im sure I pulled it out with nozzle pointing up and the spring over that with the "can" part at the bottom . Is that correct? Many thanks ! "

im going with what you say about taking the throttle body off with the cables still attached, ill end breaking the cruise control cable !
