Did you remove the gearbox as well or did you leave it in the car, and i take its auto. Check the link arm that goes from gearbox to shifter. The link arm might need adjustment, and even try start in neutral.

Hello mick I've got everything back together and when it's in park it seems to be in gear any ideas
