looking at ordering a VCM480 for a stock LS1 150 Km
can i get away with just throwing the cam in
or do i have to update the stock valve springs etc i guess its advisable to do the timing chain at the same time?
what should i make allowances for?

If it’s got a decent number of kms on the engine it would pay to get the lifters and lifter buckets changed out as well. That involves removing the heads so quite a bit of cost involved but well worth doing especially if your putting a cam in.

Just make sure you get good quality lifters (most go for the genuine LS7 lifters) and use genuine GM lifter buckets as using inferior quality lifters and buckets can cost a lot of money when they wipe out the cam and then your probably up for an engine rebuild.

stock springs cant cope with more lift and faster ramp rates of aftermarket cams, best to get the springs to suit the camshaft, u dont want to get valve float in the higher rpms as it can cost and engine
