So for me to get a fancy new head unit do I just buy a double din head unit and pay for a professional to install it? What do I need to know?

I have a 2006 Berlina VE Holden. It has the normal 6 CD radio and CD player. That is with the manufacturer / came with the car.

You can install it yourself. There are quite a few how to videos to follow along.

You buy the headunit of your choice.
Android Auto or Apple CarPlay enable led is advisable.

You buy the Aerpro adaptor facia. Or you can go with the complete Alpine kit.

You buy the adaptor harness suited to your chosen headunit.

You buy a GPS module to add to the head unit (required for some, but not all headunits)

You buy a charge cable suited to your phone.
