- VS Ute 3.8 manual
For 14 yrs and 285,000kms I have been driving a '95 VS Ute 3.8 5 speed manual and never regretted a moment of it.
And as much as I hate to replace it, the time has come and I just wanted some feedback from others that have gone from 3.8 to 3.6 before I part with my hard earned.
I've had a read up about the 3.6 alloytec and I understand the basic differences. I have also come across conflicting info/opinions in asstd forums (surprise).
After 14 years of being impressed with my 3.8, I'm real tempted by a mint low kms '04 VY S ute with 3.8 (auto dammit) I see for sale.
There's also a nice '06 VZ S crewman with 3.6 and 6 speed manual for sale.
Most of my driving is open road/rural, and I do carry a load occassionally.
Which will give better fuel economy?
Is the 3.6 going to be as reliable and easy to maintain for 250,000+ kms as a lower tech 3.8?
Can anyone offer their relevant experiences or thoughts that can help me decide?
Thanks for any helpful replies
