Hi all.
Just wondering if any one can tell me why I sometimes get this over lap (arrowed) on my Lap top.
It doesn't happen all the time and I 'can' fix it by reloading the page.

The page also doesn't fill the screen totally width ways. The "Welcome" text at the top of the page, also encroaches into the JC banner as well.
I can remember only once, the page totally filling the Lap Top's screen.

It's the same, no matter where I navigate to on the JC Web Site.
I don't have any trouble with other sites, as they fill the screen ok.

My lap top is an HP Pavilion dv6 and is approx. 3 and half years old.

Appreciate any input.

N.K.

OK my findings.

I had same issue using Chrome (which currently is not installed cos I had to go back to a backup)

However just testing using what i do have.

Windows 7 up to date
IE 11 - rendering on 1680x1050 perfectly fine (widescreen)
IE 11 - rendering on 1280x1024 (4:3) not great and same issues as Nutty

HOWEVER
Checked encoding from Western ISO to Western European (Windows) and fixed it.

Mozilla 28 (not the latest version, dont like the newer one) - rendering on 1680 x 1050 and 1280x1024 is perfect
Encoding set to - Western

So multiple things to try, try encoding, try resolution, try Win IE 11

It's not you, it's the site. These pics including the logo are in 'absolute' positions so they don't scale (the pictures have basically been injected into a fixed position). A width of 1280 (may) or less will cause your problem. Same with the logo based on its size, Welcome begins to overlap below 1400.

What's the max res on your HP?

The only issue around changing the character encoding is potential impacts on other sites that don't support Western European, it's designed for languages (character sets) other than English. So you may fix this one site and break 100 others, plus lose special character functions.

EDIT - vBulletin 4 uses charset=ISO-8859-1, that's also a big issue as the world (web browsers) moves into pure HTML5. Should be using UTF-8 but that's a mean feat on an existing site without starting from scratch.

Thanks guys.
My screen resolution maximum is 1366 X 768.
Tried uniacidz suggestion to no avail.

It's really no big deal.....Just thought I'd run it past you guys.

I'm running Chrome on my laptop (~2.5 year old Acer Aspire), 1366 x 768 resolution and I'm not having any issues.

I do sometimes get text overlap on ebay pages though.

Thanks HoZy.
Just tried you suggestion.....

I just zoomed out one click and it is better.
The 'welcome' text is now miles away and the
margins are a bit closer to the edge of the screen but it looks like the text has gone down
one size.
If I click 'zoom text only', it reverts back to the original screen.

Just can't zoom out too far, as the text gets a bit small for these aging eyes.
