Interesting article... These advertisements take us back to what the Commodore and large sedan segment once was, and it kind of brings a tear to my eye that the industry died out...

Also love the retro vibes lol

I remember going to the Holden factory when it was operating in Brissy and they were building Geminis.....Remember a fella in the boot, tweeking things with a rubber mallet....

well DO NOT ever buy a Lamborghini!
did a factory tour there (yeah in Sant'Agata Bolognese Italy) a few years ago.. and watching final inspection happening

couple of guys there with long micrometers and HUGE ( I mean HUGE!) rubber mallets
door gap too big? yeah EASY FIX! no problems...
hit the panels HARD, VERY HARD with the rubber mallets
and keep hitting until the gap is right

Blew my mind that..

ps..if you have a few Euros, you can go for a burn in one
just don't get caught speedingby the local polizia! BIG FINE ...
will ruin your holiday (and no, not me but saw another get sprung)

I did notice at the Holden Elizabeth factory back in 1994/1995 (can't remember the year), they used rubber mallets to line panels up as well....A case of not lined up properly, we place it in a strageic spot, slam the panel closed and open it up again to remove the mallet....Either that, or give it a good wack to line it up.... Close the panel again and if it lines up, move to the next car....

Have sat my ass in a few Lambos....Getting to bloody old to get in and out of them, with the things being so low to the ground....

Also the English way. They did exactly the same thing at the end of the old Jag XK line that I visited once.

I guess Aussie car doors just don't seal well :p
