VZ Ute K Sport Coilovers Into VU Ute

Just bought a pair of K Sport coilovers for my VU ute. Was told that they came out of VZ Ute. The bottom shock fitting dosnt fit my VU. The tube that goes through the bottom shock rubber that fits into the trailing arm of the ute is too wide. My question is, do VZ Ute rear shocks fit straight...

    VU Front K Frame

Na just the one strut. It's bent on the base of it right where the top of the mount is. All the rest of the gear is ok. Glad it's just a strut. Throw away item. That ute I wrecked out had a knock in the front bumper, head light and a tiny bit of the top corner of the radiator support panel. I...

Bent strut. I can't believe I missed seeing it when I put them in from another ute I wrecked. Bent at the top of the stub axle mount on the base of the strut. Must have been a busy day the day I swapped them over. Got pedders bushes up top and those still look pretty good. Bearings are still...

I'll have to get in there and see what's going on. Chances are they're stuffed. Got few other sets that I can chuck in in the mean time if the ones in there are dead.

Shoit!! $410. Maybe has to be done.

There a bit different than what I can remember mine being like. Great idea. I'll get on the hunt :D

    VU Front K Frame

I'm just trying to remember the ones I had in the SS. They were nolothane. I think they might've been adjustable, can't remember. Weren't anything like the Jap type adjustable ones. I think ya just mounted them around at whatever angle ya wanted them at. Going back a while now though.

Wondered how you'd mount an adjustable top on these towers. It'd take a little mod to top of strut tower. Wasn't sure if they were done in these. Just running Monroe stuts in this

I adjusted rod bushes spacers after I bought the ute because at full lock it ha a tiny bit of rub on one of the inner guards and spaces front and rear of wheel weren't spot on. That was sorted back then. It's just the top of the strut in the tower that's in question now. Bent z bar, control...

Yeah yours sits nice and central. The bush might be cactus. Do you mean fro the center of the wheel hub to the guard lip?

I did use same one yeah. I just took the plate off to view that top cup washer, just before. It's always on there otherwise :D

    VU Front K Frame

And yeah I see what you're saying about the top cup washer but it looks like the nut is still sitting in the center of the washer so hole should still be round and not oval. Haven't heard any noises at all up there while driving. Still smooth and noise free so shouldn't be flogging out that...

    VU Front K Frame

When I get the struts out of these, I notice that that big bush with the bearing run/race in the bottom of it, is more times than not slightly out of shape. I mean I can see that they're being forced or pushed towards the engine side of its cup seat at the top of the tower and the bush material...

    VU Front K Frame

Took the thoughts right out my head. That's exactly what I have been thinking of doing. That's exactly what it needs for further adjustment of the camber. Either that or pair of the adjustable strut top mounts, which I don't have. They'd be safer. Am still chewing over the first idea though...

    VU Front K Frame

I'm thinking that it's the k frame because of a knock I gave my vr SS some years ago. It bent the frame where the control arm mounts the frame. Think I remember replacing the z bar and it didn't do the job. Then I noticed it was a combination of a little bit of a bend of the z bar, control arm...

    VU Front K Frame

Hey all. Just wondering about my front k frame on my VU before I lift it up and have a look. Wondering if I can move k frame sideways at all? Can't remember, been too long since I've replaced one. I ask because the ute I bought few months ago has inner tyre wear. I've done the string line...

    VU Ecotec Overheated

I just listened to the sound on the video I posted. Makes it sound VERY bad. It does just sound like lifters when you're standing next to it hearing it running. I did a 200km round trip to go and pick up an engine hoist after I did the work to it, and it didn't sound bad at all. Driving beside...

    VU Ecotec Overheated

That'd make more sense than what I'm finding Not_An_Abba_Fan. It's just been a mistery to me. Can it be saved by touching it with a honer around to top rim of each pot? Or is it a reco and rebuild job? I've just changed my motors over last night and I'm wondering if I can save the one that I...

    VU Ecotec Overheated

Thought has crossed my mind more than once if removing lower intake and reusing the same gaskets but I thought I better not. Ya don't reuse gaskets lol. The ones I took off were still really good so I've actually hung into them for just in case, they're in the pack these ones came out of and put...

    98 vt berlina knocking

Unfortunately I would have to say that I'm suspecting that it's a con rod on its way to throw its leg out of bed. End of the day, a replacement motor would be the cheapest way out. You could get it up on stands, lift your motor up a couple of inches and remove your sump. Drain your oil first ;)...

    Seat replacement question

Just remember to disconnect your battery because if you don't next time you got to start your car, you'll have the air bag warning chime and light up on your dash. Every single time. Can't clear that code by disconnecting your battery again. Have to that one done by tech 2 or similar :)

    auto to manual conversion

The crank in the motor needs to be me from a manual motor. Has 2 dowels as well as the bolts to mount the flywheel to the end of the crank, that autos don't have. Stops snapping bolts. Have associated costs with changing crank. Main bolts & con rod bolts need to be bought new because factory...

    98 vt berlina knocking

Hi mate. Can we get a bit more info please? Have you had a good listen around your motor with your bonnet up? Try to hear where it may be coming from. Bottom, top, one side perhaps. Is the noise/knock a lower aggressive type knock or a higher pitched rattle?

    VU Ecotec Overheated

Yeah Jxfwsf, I've got the lifters fro the other motor. That's the only thing that may have been done incorrectly if that's the case with those little plates. I know the ones you're talking about. After each had been cleaned I thought that I had put them back in the right/same way. Could be wrong...

    VU Ecotec Overheated

Thanks devilly, use that trick with the screwdriver or big spanner on drill rigs. Works well. I'm thinking that it's a few dead lifters. Just really seems odd that it's happened at the same time. Could be a result of the overheating. When I took each lifter apart, they all looked ok inside...
