Hooray Problem fixed, picked up a running VP commodore for $500 the other day and whacked the motor, engine loom and computer in today and is all good. Hooray for me.

Hey everyone, as the title suggests I would like to know what the difference is between the auto and the manual engine looms. Don't need the under dash loom part as I already have that part for my Hilux, just need to know the difference if any.

So I wonder why the light keeps coming on? As I said is it possible for it to read the right voltages and still be buggered?

Yeah reset it. The light comes on after about 5 or 10 secs then it starts to run like crap. I checked the vacuum again and its at about 17" Hg @ idle.

Well, this afternoon I decided to try my old ECU which is buggered (showing a 51 code) and the engine runs, albeit rough as guts. Unplugged it and plugged in the other one and again no go.

Ok. I can now hear a hissing noise in the fuel line around the rail area when the engine dies, I am wondering if it could be leaking injectors? Also a couple of times the fuel pressure dropped very quickly to zero.

I checked the fuel pressure and got a reading of 40 Psi with ignition on & 35 Psi @ idle, I pulled the vacuum line off the regulator with it running and it jumped about 10 Psi. It also still holds pressure after shut down.

The vacuum line for the heater controls is plugged into the elbow too. At least I think thats what the line is for, its the hose just above the hose for the fuel regulator. If I am wrong and this has to be plugged in somewhere else then could someone tell me please. Thanks

Ok so I swapped the alternator today with a spare I had and it is now showing 14.2v. Reset ECU and the 33 code is no longer showing up, but the 51 code is. I pulled the Ecu apart and blew all the dust out and checked all the pins are intact. So would it be the ECU that is the prob or the Memcal ?

Checked the charge at the alt today and is showing 11.95v batt too. I did a diagnostic on it and came up with fault codes 33 MAP voltage too high and 51 check memcal. Reset the ECU and now is coming up with 51. Would this have anything to do with the alternator being rooted? Maybe the voltage...
