4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I was very lucky to purchase an SV6 wheel last year with paddles attached, so I'm set there. And all the wiring is done from the column down the the transmission. Just have to put it all together now.

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I'll leave the fuel stuff alone, probably better to start a new thread for that. Getting back to the topic of ABS, I went back into my GTOs ABS module and looked at the settings I put into it so it would be happy with the E38. I couldn't simply select whatever I wanted, the Tech2 only allowed...

    ECU Replacement Question

I know how to program one and how to security link. What I'm wondering is when I go to link it will I need to provide a security code that I need to get from the dealership?

    ECU Replacement Question

I've got a friend here in Wisconsin with a Pontiac G8 GXP that has been parked for quite a while. It wouldn't start, said Contact Dealer, and I diagnosed it to have a dead ECU. So I need to replace it, and I have a Tech 2 so I can program a new one. But I've never programed an ECU for a VE...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I have an oil temp sensor wired in on my GTO and the one time I threw an E38 on it with a VE OS, I got readings. But because I couldn't security link it and the ABS was freaked out I didn't leave it in. As far as the FPCM, I tuner friend of mine over here got me into the idea of using one. He...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

My friend in the States found out something when he built his S10 with the 3.6 and 6L50. He uses an E67 with a 2009 Cadillac CTS operating system. E67s and E38 have a lot of software similarities. There is a memory address that is set in the OS to tell it what kind of transmission to look for...

Do you happen to know which CAN ID a V6 ECU is looking for ABS data on?

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I think you're right, because you can copy the VE setting to the VZ OS and it won't work. I figure it's some other bit value(s) that have to be changed outside of HPTuners or EFILive, or that sensor is being read but the data isn't being broadcast on the CAN. Here's the settings from a VE OS.

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

Biggest reason would be to have an oil temp sensor. It's there in HPTuners for the 12607218 and 12609099 OSes, but does not work. It does work in an 07 VE OS. I also want the ability to run a factory Fuel Pump Control Module. The 12609099 OS does support this so if I could get around the ABS...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

Unrelated, but if I could just get a VE E38 OS to talk to a VZ ABS module without throwing fault codes, it would make the VZ platform the most exciting to play with for the next couple years! I am loving the work that so many are doing right now with this platform. I am more motivated than...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I think the only hard wire automatic shifter that exists out there is from the early C6 Chevrolet Corvette. My mate got his truck over here working with an Oldsmobile Bravada floor shifter and a shifter head out of a Saturn Vue with TUTD buttons. Factory shifters for direct wire to the TCM are...

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I I'm glad to hear you got it working. And you took the next step I would have and switched the dash to 5L40 mode. I think in the end I'll be switching my PIM and ABS module to 5L40 mode so I can get ESP working as well. For reverse I'm going to follow a mate's example over here. He put a 6L50...

I had to add the wire to my harness for the 6L80 conversion as well. The nice thing is it's only one wire.

Works the same as the Traction Control button.

It's wired into the PIM, pin 5. Not sure if it's active in V8 calibration or not yet.

4L60/65 Tap Shift may be possible

I too am putting a 6L80 in a Crewman, and I know it will work there. What I'm hoping is to activate it using the ActiveSelect button from a V6 model. If not, I know it can be activated by putting the shifter in D3, which the 6L80 recognizes as D5.

    Time for a new project!

Thanks! I'm a bit concerned about the rings but I guess I won't find out how well I did till she runs. Hopefully I can get a little more support from other vendors during the build.

So that must be for V6 models. I'm just hopeful that the resistance for the shift buttons is the same resistance that the T43 TCM needs for direct wired Tap Up/Tap Down requests. Just wired them into the clockspring and dash harness yesterday.

Turns out I've run into a roadblock using a VE ABS module in the VZ. While scanning through a schematic yesterday I came to discover that VE cars have a 0-5V brake pedal position sensor to determine precisely how much brake force is being requested. You'd think this sensor information would go...

    ecm plug & play

On the VZ platform, the route goes ECU ==> EBCM ==> PIM ==> TCM (if automatic) ==> OBD Connector On the VE platform, there are a lot more modules, but I know the first two are ECU ==> EBCM

That makes sense, because then it will clear the storage bin. I will have to make sure my cupholders are on the passenger side of the console and it should clear fine. Although, the G8 sensor is clearly mounted in schematics the way I have it. I wonder now if that will matter.

Got my hands on a Yaw sensor from a G8. No surprise that there are two studs on the top of the driveshaft tunnel to mount the sensor. My only concern now is if there will be a clearance issue with the center console once it's installed. It will be a while till I find out, but hopefully things...

The VE Steering Angle Sensor fits perfectly!!! This has to be the steering angle sensor Holden used in the AWD Adventras with Electronic Stability Program. I also believe they used it in 2006 VZ HSVs with ESP. So it fits, but is there a mechanism in the VZ clock spring to turn the Steering...

MASSIVE UPDATE!!! I got my hands on a VE Commodore clockspring this evening. Unfortunately, I had to destroy the clockspring part to get the steering angle sensor out of it, but I got it out undamaged. Here is the VE Commodore Steering Angle Sensor. It's a Bosch part number 0 265 005 505...

Here's the sensor shown in the Service Manual. Here's the connector for it: Here's a breakdown of what it looks like internally. From what I understand, it's a Bosch part. Here is where it attaches to the clockspring body, underneath the clockspring itself. You can see the recessed holes...

After seeing this, it seems to break down this way: 3 Channel is ABS only 4 Channel on V6 RWD and V8 models is ABS/TC 4 Channel on V6 AWD models is ABS/TC/ESP apollo13 would have to confirm if his Thunder has a Traction Control button. If not, he has the same ABS module as a Crewman.

    VE Braking System Question

The Yaw sensors are common, but without the Steering Angle sensor, useless. The steering sensor is the Holy Grail. Even a part number from one would give me something to go on. Of course, it means asking someone to remove their steering wheel and clockspring to get to it and take a picture.

Guys and gals, I've been experimenting with getting a VE Commodore V8 OS and ECU to work in my Pontiac GTO. Guys and gals, I have a burning question regarding VZ Utes and their braking systems. My Crewman is a 2005, so it has the rear brake proportioning valve. According to the service manuals, they did away with the valve in 2006 and replaced it with an ABS module with Electronic Brake Force...

    VZ Crewman suspension questions

So I had a brain wave when figjam said the stock tire was 225/55/17. Went and double checked the tires on the Crewman now and that's exactly what it has on it! That's a 26.74" (679.18 mm) tire diameter. The tire I want to run is 26.68" (677.67 mm). So the height is fine! I may have to space it...
