    Pothole broke my handbrake

Can’t upload the photos cause they’re too big apparently. But my whole handbrake shoe was loose, and CHEWED up. Real bad. As I pulled the disc off, pieces just crumbled out of it. Seems **** got pretty cooked.

    Pothole broke my handbrake

Cheers guys. Didn’t even realise I got so many messages, didn’t get a single notif about them. I got the tools, just literally haven’t had time between work and uni. Thought I’d get some answers in the mean time. Thanks all!

    Pothole broke my handbrake

Thanks man. Real helpful. barring the sarcasm, I would, just don’t have the money. Nor can I drive it like this to the mechanic

    Pothole broke my handbrake

Hey all, Been scouring the forum for an answer, can’t really find one for me. Was testing my car out today around the block, probs going max 40kmh, and I hit a shallow pothole and heard a pretty loud clang. Then the sound of something metal dragging. Thought I’d lost my exhaust or something...

    codes

hey guys, ecotec overheated few days ago, spilled coolant out of what i assume is the ressie. filled it back up and bled it, drove home fine. read the codes the cars throwing, as the check engine light came on a few times for 10 seconds over the last month, thought nothing of it. Codes 13...

    Power steering pulley touching lines

Idk if I could do that myself. Reckon a mechanic or someone here located in Adelaide could do this? Would they take the job or is it too risky
  8. ConnorJames05

    Power steering pulley touching lines

Cheers lex, I swear you’re like the mythical wizard of answers on this forum. It’s awesome

    Power steering pulley touching lines

Yeah mate, my bad, confused myself hahaha. They are, wouldn’t have noticed if you didn’t point it out, still new to this actually working on my own car. Cheers boss
  10. ConnorJames05

    Power steering pulley touching lines

Maybe. They’re defs power steering. Lines run back to the rack
  11. ConnorJames05

    Power steering pulley touching lines

Hey lads, weird one today. Power steering started PISSING everywhere. Pulley was shooting fluid all over the engine bay. Swapped a reco pump in, was still doing it until I found a hole worn into the high pressure line that runs over the oil filter and under the pulley. Somehow, the line has...

Hey gents, looking to score some koni adjustable shocks and struts, dunno where to get them though, any webstores that sell them? most dont have results for vt's through to vz. cheers

    4 point camber kits

Yeah I’ve got a set of sl’s to put on. Anything lower is too dropped for me. So I think I should be fine
  14. ConnorJames05

    4 point camber kits

Sorry to bombard you with questions mate, but i see kits that have 2 degrees of adjustment, others that have 1, and some that have 3. What’s the difference? Is 1 better than 3, or is it the other way round
  15. ConnorJames05

    4 point camber kits

Thank you, does it NEED to be a vx s2, or can I go into the vy years?
  16. ConnorJames05

    4 point camber kits

Yeah fair. I’ve been doing my research but everything is super confusing for the time being.
  17. ConnorJames05

    4 point camber kits

What am I looking at price wise for that? I’m gonna assume that’s the rear assembly of a vx s2, which would mean dropping the whole rear suspension
  18. ConnorJames05

    4 point camber kits

Best 4 point kit, price and performance wise. Need to get one, especially since I plan to lower my vt. Thanks gents!

    Wheels, tyres, and suspension

Last question I have, offset wise, what is good? Lol. I want clean, but safe fitment, since I’m going in a “nascar inspired” set up of smaller diameter Steelies, 16s probably, with decent sidewalls.
  20. ConnorJames05

    Wheels, tyres, and suspension

Deadset, this is some of the best and most well given advice I’ve ever received on here. Genuinely, you’re stupidly smart lol. Thanks dude

    Wheels, tyres, and suspension

I think based off what you’ve said, which I really fkn appreciate the detail you’ve gone into, which hopefully will help others later on, and what riffraff has said, I will probably not put anything bigger than 17/18s on mine. Did the 255 and 235s rub at all now? Or when you had SLs, if you...

    Wheels, tyres, and suspension

Hey guys, I’ve got a vt berlina, and I wanna know, regardless of legality, best fitment options for a relatively comfortable ride with kings SL’s (don’t mind some stiffness). Wheel and tyre size wise. In other words, how wide can I go comfortably? And what wheel diameter size is best, looks...

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Problem ended up being a faulty new coil pack. I tested them and one of the coils was completely dead, wouldn’t start on just two if it was plugged in, and there was no spark at all. Drives great now, just a trans mount to get.
  24. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Fair enough, I’ll post the results of that, as well as photos for future reference to those who see this. Thanks heaps mate.
  25. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Yeah I don’t think it is either. It’s running better since unplugging the o2 sensors. I’ll probs replace those anyway. The only thing I can think of is the plate/mount for the coil packs is warped. Other than that. I’m running out of things to fix
  26. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Will do, may be more than a couple of days since I won’t be able to get the ecu paired with the bcm until the 16th
  27. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

No I didn’t, will do that
  28. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Any suggestions then? It feels like the car is confused on where to keep the idle, but it drives fine
  29. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

I’ve got no check engine light, roughish idle, but no misfire at all when driving (i believe). Is that how it should be?
  30. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Okay. Thanks, I’ll try it tomorrow
  31. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Which o2 sensors? Or all/both exhaust and intake? Also, will it damage my engine doing short trips with it missing?
  32. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Yeah we’ve had some of those checked through, only reason I’m pretty certain it’s the ecu is when the computer is reset, it runs absolutely perfect for a few hours, then comes back
  33. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Plugs, leads, throttle body, coil packs, coil bracket. Nothing for the trans since there’s not much for us todo that we know.
  34. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

If it helps, I have an ichecktmps obd2 scanner at the moment. I could probably get a better on if need be
  35. ConnorJames05

    Replacing ecu (3.8 auto)

Hey guys, Replacing my ecu since it’s gone haywire, won’t read through the obd2 scanner, keeps causing misfires and trans shifting issues but goes away when reset then comes back. I’ve read I need a tech2 to pair the ecu and bcm together, will any other scan tool work? Or is there anyway...

    Casual issues :)

Hey guys, been here before, y’all helped heaps. I’ve got a 99’ berlina 3.8 auto, just (yes prepare yourself) had its third engine put in. Last 2 had fucked up valves on both heads. anyway, with the last 2 engines (current and previous) I’ve had issues where under throttle (usually when taking...

    Need help diagnosing problems

Hey guys, I’m new to this place, used it a while ago but haven’t since. I own a 99’ VT Berlina and it’s got some issues. It can run in both gas and petrol, but the gas system was removed by the pervious owner (took out the tank and cut the wires, not ideal) So far, the fuel system (tank...

    Need some advice :)

cheers for the guide line on basic stuff todo, hope that the engine isn’t toast :/ I’m not giving up on her
